I live the reclining nude. There's a solidity to it. But the sitting nude looks like she's made of wax and has slumped in the heat.

I agree. I like the reclining nude best too. It comes from an old photograph but the other one comes from a Gaugin painting. I'm still learning how to get the best out of this painting style. Sometimes it really works and sometimes it just doesn't come off so well.

I actually thought the reclining nude was from the pastel you bought. Gaugin's nudes were very slopy shouldered. I think it was the Tahitian heat.
